Downloading and using LMMS isn't free! In fact, it costs nothing to download and install. Just go to the link below to download LMMS onto your computer. Once you have downloaded and installed the software, you can then burn the file onto a CD or DVD for burning to disk. You can also download the software and follow the instructions there to burn the file to a blank disc.
If you need further help and information on the software, you can go to the owner's web-site and download all the necessary software, read up on the various features, and view a sample demo of the software. For those of you who may be using a midi keyboard controller for your computer but have yet to purchase any type of software or instrument support for your computer, I highly recommend that you look into the free downloading of LMMS. It will save you a ton of money in the long run. Also, since you are getting the software for free, you can try out the free version first by downloading it. I'm sure you won't regret it.
In my humble opinion, LMS software should be considered a cross-platform virtual synthesizer. Most people think they are creating a virtual synthesizer inside their own desktop computer, but actually, a majority of these applications (especially the ones designed for desktop computers) are based on VST, which is a cross-platform open source software that runs on a variety of systems such as Linux, MAC, and UNIX. You can use this software with almost any operating system. This is why I believe that LMS software is better than other popular midi applications out there today. As an example, I happen to use LMMS every day with my MACbook. I think that if you ever want to create awesome rips, beats, etc, than LMS is definitely the way to go.
